Celia, a touring singer-songwriter and recording artist, wrote "The Caregivers Song" in response to a Facebook request from a fan who along with her son were cancer survivors. The request was simply this: Could Celia write a song to help them express their gratitude to those Caregivers that had given so much to them and others like them?
Celia writes: "Though I have never met April in person her request was so compelling that I responded to her by saying 'I will sit with this and see what comes thru.' Well, the Muse has its way and even as I was typing that reply to her, the words started coming. I was packing for tour and really didn't think 'I had time' to write a song. However, I left from Albuquerque, NM (driving) and two days later in Kansas City, MO I was putting the finishing touches on “The Caregiver’s Song” on my friend’s back porch. I had intended to have a phone interview with April to learn more of her personal story to help write the song but our schedules did not meet. So, I took the essence of what she shared in e-mails, imagined myself in her shoes, and allowed the song to come thru. I immediately started singing this song at concerts to deep and soulful personal responses."
April wrote to me “I have said many times that your songs seem to be able to see through space and time and straight into my soul. I have found so much strength through your music. You will never know how inspirational you have been. On behalf of myself, my family, and all Survivors, Caregivers, and all those left behind, Thank you so much.”
Celia sends this blessing to us: “The Caregiver’s Song” has grown larger than it’s inspiration. It has become a magical soul messenger beyond my imagination. My dream for this song is simple: for it to be heard by the people who need to hear it. With it I honor all Caregivers. It is love that sustains us through the difficult times. Know that you are blessed."
Celia's "Caregivers Song" is on her most recent album "For the Asking".
